The real irony of the pixel stained technopeasantry comment from a leading SciFi person is that he stole the term from Frank Herbert, the best-selling SciFi author, and completely misused it. Technopeasantry was coined by Herbert to describe a thoughtful use of technology so that we use it rather than it using us. The first time that I saw the term publicly was in an interview that Herbert gave to Mother Earth News in May, 1981. It’s still available online (for free) and it contains more on this term as well as some of Herbert’s other thought-provoking ideas.
