- The good news is out about Generation Loss, Liz Hand’s next novel, which is being published jointly by Harvest and Small Beer. Sayeth the blurb at Liz’s site: "The Small Beer hardcover is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2007, to be followed by the Harvest paperback in Spring 2008." This makes me very happy.
- Colleen Mondor has a gorgeous new site. Update blogrolls and bookmarks accordingly.
- Hannah and Chance just sold stories to Fantasy magazine — another yay for the ladies. And now I have to subscribe.
- Stupidest bad review ever. (Via Words, Words, Words.)
- Keeping up with La Gringa’s titling on Bloglines this week has been like a game.
- Alan DeNiro already long-listed for big deal award for his bad-ass forthcoming collection. I’ve been reading the galley this week and, yes, it is the awesome.
- Cecil Castellucci will be reading as part of the Swink-Vermin Tag Team at Vermin on the Mount on 4/29. Be there LA-ites.
- Started the week linking to Tod Goldberg, and why not end it there to?

Have you actually read Black Swan Green yet?
I’m about half-way through and think it’s pretty wonderful. This line is what I’m talking about re: the review, btw: “There is almost nothing exceptional left to be written about children. It’s all been said before,”
That’s just stupid.
Yeah, I agree – an exceptionally ill-advised statement. Still waiting for my copy of BSG.
Ha ha ha!
Go look at my blog title now, Ms. Bond!
I’m cracking up.
I’ve quite openly expressed my concerns about Mitchell in the past but someone in the trade told me BSG is the one that I’ll enjoy because it loses the tricksiness and gets on with the story (though he also said some of the 1980s signposting was very unsubtle).
Agree on the stupidity of that comment – if you extrapolate, there’s nothing exceptional left to be written about anything.
As ever though, let me take this opportunity to recommend “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky, which really is a modern take on “Catcher”.
