And now for what may well be one of the last times, a new VM ep:
Un-American Graffiti. Veronica (Kristen Bell) is hired by a Middle Eastern restaurant owner to find out who has been vandalizing their business with ethnic slurs. While investigating the case, Veronica and the restaurant owner are attacked in a drive-by shooting. When a drunk teenager stumbles from a bar and gets hit by a car, Keith (Enrico Colantoni) orders his deputies to conduct surprise ID checks in all the area bars. While doing his own surprise search, Keith catches Piz (Chris Lowell) and Wallace (Percy Daggs) using fake ID’s provided by Veronica. Meanwhile, Logan (Jason Dohring) decides to throw a birthday party for Parker (Julie Gonzalo). Francis Capra and Ryan Hansen also star. Dan Etheridge directed the episode written by John Enbom.
I have to say, I haven’t missed the show nearly as much as I would have wished to during the hiatus — the level of wishing related to level of goodness this season, of course.
I haven’t missed the show much and I don’t have high expectations for its quality tonight, but I’m surprised to find how eager I am to watch it anyway. I guess I’m just happy to be seeing the characters again. It feels like a long time ago, we used to be friends but I haven’t thought of them lately…
Were we all really that whelmed?
Yeah.
Okay, that episode just depressed me. I watched Gilmore Girls for the first time in a year last night too, and had the same feeling of “Great characters are trapped inside there, but somebody’s making them say dumb things.”
I haven’t seen the episode yet, but I too was surprised at how little I missed it while it was gone. Maybe because I managed to miss an episode or two before it went on hiatus, or maybe because I’m just steeling myself up for what I fear is the show’s inevitable cancellation.
Does anybody have any idea why Tracey Needham was listed in the guest star credits of this ep? Was she supposed to resume her role as Kathleen Berry but the scenes got cut out or something? Or is she recurring in any of the following eps?
I found the episode incredibly clumsy. I think the best parts were the relationship parts, though. But I didn’t miss it much either. I’m watching now mostly out of curiosity rather than a need to see it.
