- So sorry for the lack of catching up on e-mail. This weekend? Writing, painting, and e-mail. That’s the plan. Except for tonight, which will, of course, be spent with a nice cold glass of wine in front of the debate.
- David Anthony Durham gives Christopher Paolini’s latest a thoroughly charming review in the WaPo: "As an adult, I read "Brisingr" with a mixture of admiration for Paolini’s accomplishments and an awareness of the book’s flaws, which prevented me from being fully won over. But that’s hardly a slight. Had I read this novel when I was 13, it would have kept me up straight through the night. For that matter, I might have even stolen a few bits from it for D&D. And that’s a compliment."
- Speaking of the WaPo, they highlight a few worthy 2008 summer books that didn’t get selected for review on the Short Stack blog. I’d love to see more book sections (the ones that are left!) do this.
- R.I.P. Minx. Don’t miss Cecil‘s Janes in Love, which is sheer fabulousness.
- A new book examines the mathematics of Borges’ Library of Babel, and Alberto Manguel writes about it. (Via Jenny D.)
- I’m sure everyone has seen this, but it’s likely that Lucy Maud Montgomery committed suicide.
- Bennett cracks me up.
- All right, back to researching Argus Panoptes. (The Medea’s daughter book is getting close! so close! to being done.)

This is a statement that makes me very happy.
Hi Gwenda,
Just wanted to leave you one more link for the Hangovers, remembering that you enjoyed the Mad Rush vid I made for Kelley Eskridge. I posted another fan-vid yesterday, but this time for one of Nicola Griffith’s short stories:
