- I like #newtwitter–it seems tons more functional, and I find myself actually using it instead of a client. I particularly like the option to see the conversation a tweet is part of, even if you aren't following all the people involved. That said, it'd be grand if they'd fix retweets so you could easily add comments (similar to how twitterfox works).
- Sarah Weinman kicks off her Currency Culture Q & A series with Charles Yu. His How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe (which is gorgeously designed) has been in my stack for awhile now, but will probably have to wait until after the Cybils reading concludes at this point. Alas.
- The mag Scott Westerfeld interviewed over at Tor, which is also hosting a giveaway in honor of Behemoth's publication this week. Yay!
- Kristin Cashore renders a Graceling scene as done by David Mamet. This is why I love her blog so. (Also, sensible posts like this.)
- Bookavore can make baklava muffins. In related news: WANT.
- Bill Morris at the Millions on China Mieville: "How China Mieville Got Me to Stop Worrying and Love the Monsters."
- A post from the one and only Betsy Bird that I meant to link ages ago, about why it freaks some people out to think of Katniss with an Appalachian accent. (I believe I was the twitterer who said I think of all the districts as having regional accents–or, at least, I do.)
- I'm sure you've seen this already, but just in case: Risha Mullins relates the full story of what she had to endure after she got teens reading (gasp) some new YA and received the witch hunt treatment from vocal factions in a small Kentucky community (which her school administrators rolled over and played dead for). So angry-making. Ban the banners.
- Cricket Press has new Halloween stuff in their etsy shop. Just in time for ghost and witch season.
